Don’t worry! We offer a completely self-contained entertainment package; lighting, sound engineer, intermission music, high quality PA system and not just the musical performance. But most of all, we practice an ethos of service and professionalism. In other words, once you have decided to book Limited Company you can be assured of careful attention to detail, from courteous co-operation with your own planning to a smooth, well-drilled setup procedure (see below), and a stunning show on the night itself. Problems with on-line movie?

Our 13mB QuickTime Movie downloads in 30 seconds to 2 mins on broadband, affected by your browser settings . You WON'T get full DVD quality from this download.'Old-style' modems take far too long (our alternative mp3 audio is a better bet for 'slow' phonelines). You DON'T need a Mac to see our video.

Windows PCs (Microsoft) running XP normally open it automatically in Windows Media Player. Windows 98 and 2000 usually work fine too, Pentium III 500mHz and above. Click 'alt' + 'enter' to display full screen. Many Windows machines also have QuickTime installed which you can try as an alternative.

QuickTime Player for Windows is FREE at www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html but try your normal Windows Media Player first. Follow on-line instructions carefully, DON'T select QuickTime as 'default player'.

Applemacs on OS9 or OSX always have QuickTime, G3 350mHz or above. Linux users won't need our advice!

What does the Band Charge?

It's impossible to give a 'one size fits all' fee. Contact us. Like all serious performers, day, date and season is all; expect to pay more for a prime 'summer wedding saturday' than a wet Wednesday in March! But in all cases, you'll get the total 110% performance.

Do please bear in mind that when you book Limited Company, we commit to your event absolutely; i.e. we are exclusively at your service for that entire evening, and will decline another engagement; it's just not practical.

Phone Neil on 01392 834760 with details of your event , and he'll try his best to give you a firm quotation then and there (or e-mail us via the Contact Page).

Even if you're only at the 'planning' stage, we'll still give you a guide price; again, phone Neil to talk through your options.

How do I book the band?

Simple. Just call Neil Rich on 01392 834760. He’s usually available to speak to you, but if not an answer-phone messages gets a prompt response.

What does the band play?

We play 're-worked' covers from the 60s to the present. “Broad appeal with musical integrity” is the general aim. We like material that challenges us vocally and instrumentally but not at the expense of losing our audiences. We don’t specialise in one area, for example " blues” or “soul”, but select material on merit from many styles. We choose carefully and always monitor audience reaction. If it works, it stays - if not, it goes. We particularly like finding great songs that people won't have heard for a while and have forgotten just how good they sound (and there is an awful lot of this stuff!). We'll often 'rearrange' songs to suit our strengths; you'll know it at once, but you'll love the fresh new angle; male/female vocals might change places; or harmonies, a new solo or a different instrument might be added. We like to combine proven party favourites with unexpected choices that will suprise and delight your friends and guests; we love the 'buzz' of performance, so we DON'T do 'run of the mill'. Please take full advantage of the mp3 song downloads and the web video (available straight from our Downloads page), and you'll get a snapshot of our wide range of styles in exciting live music.

How long does the band play for?

Two and a quarter hours is the optimum, generally delivered in three forty-five minute slots. We can do it differently, say in two sets, or play a little over if necessary (we don’t object to playing encores!!) but as a general rule we’d say that if you want the best out of us then three forty-fives or thereabouts is just right. It's a stamina thing.

What happens during the band's breaks?

If you wish, our engineer can provide you with music played at background/conversation level. If you would like him to put on your own CDs that’s not a problem.

What about volume? How loud will it be?

Limited Company offers an exciting live performance. Our agenda is to capture your guests' attention, and we are certainly not 'Background Music'. However, we are not a loud band by industry standards, and as serious musicians we are much more interested in clean sound quality than sheer volume.

Unlike many live bands, we have a qualified sound engineer running our 'regular' 2.2kW PA system. This is adequate for almost all hotel & marquee-type events. But if you're using a much larger venue, please tell us when booking; very occasionally our 'extended' 4.2kW system might be appropriate.

In all cases, our engineer listens & watches intently for the whole performance, using sophisticated control equipment. He's very much a friendly and approachable 'hands-on' presence on the night itself.

In sum, yes, this is exciting amplified live music but our real aim is always to help make your occasion special!

Feel free to call engineer Duncan ' Devil is in the Detail' Hutchinson on 01626 361708, or e-mail him direct: huckpenninn@hotmail.com.

How far will the band travel?

Most of our work is based in the South West of England (Devon, Cornwall and Somerset) but we can & do travel further afield providing that the additional time and expense is reflected appropriately in the fee. We are quite happy to negotiate this.

Where can I hear the band?

We play almost entirely for private functions such as weddings, and we are careful to respect peoples' privacy. So we no longer publish a 'gig list'; after all, nobody wants 'uninvited guests'! Occasionally, we may play at a club, a public event or a pub (details from Neil on 01392 834760 Our solution is to loan a DVD recording so that you can hear and see what the band is like. You will be watching and hearing an absolutely live performance with no overdubs, backing tapes or other enhancement. What you see and hear is what you get. This is the most faithful replication of the band that we can offer, and we produced it with the sole aim of demonstrating as honestly as possible what Limited Company is all about. Phone Neil (above) or go to the Contact page to request the DVD.

If you'd like a very quick idea NOW of what we look and sound like, use the downloads page for some live audio and a lo-res movie clip from our DVD.

What sort of functions do the band play for?

Any sort of event where people will want to enjoy quality live rock and pop music. Consequently, we’re very familiar with parties, weddings, dinner-dances, corporate functions, hotels, charity events and public events-you name it, we've done it.

What sort of venues have the band played?

A huge variety. We've played at many well known and prestigious hotels in the South West, The Imperial, The Grand, The Palace, The Toorak in Torquay, The New Continental, The Moat House, Duke of Cornwall in Plymouth, The Southgate, The Rougemont in Exeter, Burgh Island Hotel and Thurlestone Hotel in South Devon, Saunton Sands and The Commodore in North Devon to name just a very few. We also visit a great many of the more specialised 'country house' wedding /conference venues such as St Audrie's Park, N Somerset and Kitley House near Plymouth. And we recently played at the 2004 Silverstone British Grand Prix for the Jordan F1 team.

Larger concert venues include The University Great Hall and St. Georges Hall Exeter, Plymouth Pavilions, The Riviera Centre Torquay and Westland's Yeovil. In addition to this we’ve played in countless clubs, pubs, village halls, marquees and open air venues.

Each of the above poses particular challenges for live music. Limited Company has years of experience dealing with different performance spaces, different room acoustics, different clientele and different occasions: we deliver, wherever.

Can the band give open-air performances?

Yes, providing certain commonsense provisions are met. These mainly concern electrical safety and the protection of the band and its equipment from the elements. Any questions/advice regarding this can be referred to our sound engineer Duncan Hutchinson on 01626 361708, e-mail info@limitedcompanyband.co.uk  he'll be happy to help.

What about Insurance & Safety?

The band has Public Liability Insurance. We are very conscious of current 'Health & Safety' issues and set our gear up accordingly. All equipment is inspected regularly, and electrical items are subject to Portable Appliance Testing (aka 'PAT test' - inspection copy on request). All our electrical gear has safety RCD's (trips) fitted for 'belt & braces' security.

Our show sometimes includes SHORT bursts of stroboscopic light. We won't include it if you inform us of anyone present with an epileptic condition. Please tell our engineer beforehand.

Very rarely, public bodies, large venues and corporate clients might need a formal written Risk Assessment. This is NOT normal for private events. Call our engineer at an early stage 01626 361708 Duncan 'Huck' Hutchinson; he's there to help.

How did you make those downloads?

On principle, we only offer live recordings. You wanted a live show, didn't you? Limited Company is all about 'performance' so there's no point in spending days making painstaking studio recordings. Instead, we hire a public space, invite an audience, start playing, film and record the sound straight to 16-tracks. Then we 'remaster' just enough to allow for technical differences between hearing a band with a PA system and listening at home. So what you see and hear is pretty much what you'll get. That's the idea.

How far in advance must I book?

The real question is “are the band likely to be available for the date I have in mind"? The sooner you make an enquiry the more likely you are to be able to secure the date you want.

All engagements are covered by a contract. It's the best way of giving you the assurance that your date is protected and that the band is committed to you. We frequently take bookings as far as 18 months in advance. The summer diary fills up quickly once Christmas is out of the way. Editor notes Nov '06: 2007 prime 'Wedding Saturdays' are once again booking very rapidly; an early enquiry is advised.

Will I have to make any arrangements?

The band aims to provide a complete service but one or two things are essential, such as a private changing room. We also require an adequate performance area - as a general guide, 12ft depth, 24ft width is preferred but we are very adaptable.

Take a look at the photo below; few premises offer us this much room!

As for electrical supply,  properly maintained single-phase domestic mains is adequate, either on the premises, or within a few yards where outside marquees, etc are involved.

ELECTRICAL NOTE: we have a powerful lighting rig and can draw up to 8 kilowatts. We need at least THREE normal 13-amp sockets adjacent to the stage, on the same phase each supplying 13 amps at once. So a four-way domestic connector strip plugged into ONE 13-amp outlet will NOT do! Alternatively, our power cables can reach 100ft from a garden marquee to a nearby house. We can also connect to the 'blue' 16 and 32-amp industrial sockets found on generators. If you intend to hire a generator, that's fine, but talk to us first. Our engineer (Duncan on 01626 361708 e-mail info@limitedcompanyband.co.uk) will be pleased to help.

luxurious space in a professional marquee - ideal!

Why book a live band?

Nothing compares with the impact of a live show. Anyone can put on CDs, but we actually play it like the day it was made; real instruments, real people - before your very eyes. Nothing else can match the sheer 'frisson' of real musicians in action. Familiar songs suddenly acquire an exciting new edge. A live performance is always a 'once-only' event, shared and shaped by artists and audience together, creating a real sense of Inclusion, Occasion and Celebration.
